Set auto-detection to work with e-mail programs (SRV DNS record)

Autodiscover configuration is done using the DNS record type “SRV” that can be customized in the Domain Control Panel, your registrant, or hosted. Autodiscover is supported by most email customers, including Microsoft Outlook and Thunderbird.

If the SRV records are correctly configured, mailbox connectivity will be performed in client mail applications without specifying mail servers and other technical data using only an email address and password. It is recommended that you use an SRV entry for domain mail with many users who plan to work with e-mail programs. Notice. Updating DNS records may take up to 24 hours in some cases.

If domain ownership is confirmed using DNS DELEGATION - SRV record will be added automatically. Using other methods, the SRV entry should be added independently.

The minimum configuration includes an SRV entry:

_autodiscover._tcp.BIZDOMAIN. IN SRV 0 0 443 autodiscover.inbox.eu.


where BIZDOMAIN is the full name of your domain.

The maximum configuration includes all SMTP, IMAP, and POP3 entry settings. In addition to the entries in the minimum configuration, add the following entries:

_autoconfig._tcp.BIZDOMAIN. IN SRV 0 0 443 autoconfig.inbox.eu.
_submission._tcp.BIZDOMAIN. IN SRV 0 0 587 mail.inbox.eu.
_imaps._tcp.BIZDOMAIN. IN SRV 0 0 993 mail.inbox.eu.
_pop3s._tcp.BIZDOMAIN. IN SRV 0 0 995 mail.inbox.eu.

where BIZDOMAIN is the full name of your domain.

Attention! Some domain providers may have their properties by adding an SRV entry, so if you have encountered a problem adding an SRV record, please contact your service provider or use the DNS DELEGATION method to validate your domain, in this case all required SRV records will be added automatically.

 

To add an SRV entry to the inboxeu.info domain, NIC.LV:

Go to nic.lv, select the domain to which you want to add an SRV entry, select the entry type = SRV, and fill in the following:

After saving, the SRV entry must be in a list of the following values:

The record validation can take up to 24 hours and then change the status of the SRV entry to “successfully added”.
